ADVICE TO A FRIEND -- DISHONESTY

                                    Chapter – ll
Dishonesty

Dishonesty is antithesis of honesty. It makes a man to think and do a work which is opposite to all sorts of moral and natural laws. As honesty opens the door for bringing nobler qualities, dishonesty shuts the door from them. Dishonesty corrupts the purity of the mind and helps the growth of vice, such as faithlessness, backbiting, cheating, hypocrisy and the likes. It casts around it a sense of suspicion and distrust.

Dishonesty arises from a sense of making oneself gainer at the cost of others. Whatever a man gains by this means is really by causing loss to others. So it is closely linked up with selfishness. The influence of dishonesty upon men and especially upon men of weak character is more than that of honesty. For man is by nature a follower of imitation and he picks up vice more quickly than virtue; because, vice is acquired mainly for feeding the low desire of instinct. But the attainment of virtue calls for a great deal of pain, effort, sacrifice and knowledge. Dishonesty however kept concealed, is sure to expose itself in the long run. And how? Well, that will be seen when you will turn over the next few pages.
